How many of us are out there who have seen the current trends come and go? Education in the 21st century has many improvements from 10-20-30 years ago-however, with all our testing and NCLB, we ARE leaving the human side behind-or so it sometimes seems. Having the time to just have fun in teaching-allowing our students to experience the fun of learning through projects, as an example, seems to be too often encumbered by rushing to fit all the curriculum in. Even the best intentioned, cannot complete the overwhelming task of curriculum demands. I. for one, am tired of educational know-it-alls who have had little to do with the actual day-to-day experiences in the classroom, passing all these tests for more tests, etc.
Let's hope that with new political blood that education for education sake gets reexamined-maybe those who promote all this testing should be tested in the classroom for a year. You think maybe they might get a different opinion?? |
